Good one Vitale. Scheyer lacks athleticism and subsequently, isn’t that good at creating separation. He sucks at creating his own shot. He’s kinda like a poor man’s JJ Redick. While he’s good at shooting 3s, his overall field goal pct. isn’t that great.

Mason Plumlee? Who? You mean the goofy looking white guy? Oh wait, that describes basically their whole team.

Duke needs less white guys and more athletes. And Greg Paulus is a tool and almost as unlikable as Redick.

I hope you get into Michigan Law, and I hope that they teach you what the definition of “gang rape” is because that’s just what happened to you in this topic.

Duke and UNC have taken over this thread…guys start your own new thread and let everyone else live in peace. im serious its annoying at this point

Larry Drew is a true point guard. His main drawback is his outside shooting, which, especially for UNC, is the least useful skill at PG.

People remember championships.

Greg Paulus is so good that now he’s playing football at arguably the worst football team in the Big East, Syracuse… Here is the guy who was supposed to be a top 3 guard in his recruiting class. Is that how your #1 recruiting class will turn out?

I see that you’re conveniently leaving out the early 80’s Tar Heels, who consisted of some players named James Worthy and oh, that guy, Michael Jordan. Regardless, since 1985, UNC has just as many championships as Duke.

Greg Paulus? Tea bag Paulus? You mean the same guy that Danny Green absolutely rocked at home, nuts in his face with a dunk? The guy that never beat UNC at home, not even once, throughout his whole college career at Duke? The guy that played his heard and soul out for Coach K and was rewarded with the bench his senior year? Yeah, I know Paulus alright. What a scrub.

I only care about ancient history…and recent history. See a problem with that logic? Seems like you only care about 2001-2004, while I care about every single year before and after that. Face it, UNC is second in the nation with all-time wins, has more titles than Duke, and owns Duke 130-97 in the series. Every single stat out there says we are the better program, and most people know it.

And your “ranking” that you tout so much is almost 10 years old, completely irrelevant.

Gerald Henderson criminally assaulted Hansbrough in a game when Dook was being blown out of the water (typical). He should have been a Duke lacrosse player-he would have shown them how to commit a felony without being sued or going to jail.

Better academics? Possibly. More school spirit? Not a chance. You see, UNC is actually good at football and pretty much every other major sports as well, so there is much more for us to cheer for, even during the basketball offseason.

I agree with you-Paulus is great at many things. He is strongest at shooting threes, tea bagging, and flopping.

Michael Jordan. End of discussion.

It couldn’t happen now-too many one and done players, and too many teams are becoming competitive that weren’t before (ie George Mason a few years ago). That said, you can’t just pretend like college basketball didn’t happen before 1985-it did, and it was just as important then as it is now. Ultimately, the three greatest programs in college basketball history will always be Kentucky, UCLA, and UNC.

Since 1985? UNC is the better basketball program all time, period. Every single stat says that-wins, national titles, even the all-time head-to-head vs Duke. We’re just better.

Yes, they were exonerated. Unlike Henderson, they were actually innocent. Love the classic Dookie temper tantrum though; they must have perfected that at Cameron…err Hansbrough Indoor Stadium after being dominated by us for the past 4 years.

No, actually I don’t. Probably still hungover from the NCAA national championship celebration. How’s Duke football doing? Gonna finish last in the ACC for like the 30th consecutive time this year?

The answer to the original question about which schools have the most school spirit is, unhesitatingly, unquestionably USC and it goes far beyond the football team. The Trojan family is the most “do for each other no matter what” alumni network in the world.

Many of the southern schools will sell out football games because of a rabid fanbase primarily comprised of the local population rather than students and alumni. While that is a somewhat useful measure, when it comes to actually tapping into a network for something useful rather than just counting how many tickets were sold for the latest sporting event USC wins hands down. It’s honestly not even close. As someone else said in an earlier post, USC school spirit and loyalty is off the charts to the point of being almost ridiculous.

Michael Jordan, Vince Carter, James Worthy, Antawn Jamison, Jerry Stackhouse, Ray Felton, Rasheed Wallace, Marvin Williams, Rashad McCants, Brad Daugherty, Sam Perkins, Larry Brown, Billy Cunningham, Charlie Scott.

And that list consists only of players before Greg Paulus’s time. Let me continue with my list: Tyler Hansbrough, Danny Green, Wayne Ellington, and Ty Lawson.

You have a good point there. However, in games that Larry Drew II saw significant playing time (during the stretch that Ty Lawson was injured toward the end of the season), he averaged a 5:1 assist to turnover ratio. In comparison, most coaches want their point guards to have a 2:1 assist to turnover ratio and Ty Lawson had around a 2.5-3:1 assist to turnover ratio in the 2008-2009 season. Larry Drew may not be the shooter or the speed demon that Ty Lawson is, but Larry Drew is the more accurate passer (according to Roy and several other basketball players). I think that his passing ability will play a key role on next season’s team, as UNC has arguably the strongest front court in the country.

The difference between USC and every other school is that the sports have no bearing on the tenacity of the alumni network. Of course USC expects to dominate college sports because winning is a tradition at the university, but if we ignored the fact that USC has the most NCAA Mens Sports Titles by a wide margin (and that number doesn’t include football since the NCAA doesn’t award that title - even with the BCS) and the school lost every game it played the alumni network would still be there for you when you needed some sort of hookup. Other schools might sell out their stadiums as well, but there is no university with a culture of taking care of it’s own like USC.

Make all the ignorant comments and jokes that you want, but the strength of the Trojan Family is undeniable … and everyone knows it.
