<p>State schools using formulas and privates wanting to raise rankings (below 30 rank).</p>
<p>^^ agree. State schools. They use a simple formula, especially the super large ones like Penn State. Privates may use test scores, but they approach admissions on a “holistic method”.</p>
<p>Caltech, but as for GPA, you better be taking darn hard classes, and hopefully not getting anything but As in math/science.</p>

<p>High test scores can’t make up for low GPA even at schools that like high test scores. 2300 & 3.2 is going to present problems, since it says “underachiever” to admissions, unless there is a compelling reason why GPA is low.</p>
