What Colleges Fit Me?

@merc81 @MYOS1634 I don’t know, the way the advisor explained it was that some private colleges would see savings that we don’t even have access to, like life insurance and IRAs and retirement funds. Since both my parents work for the government, the had special savings funds through work that they assumed wouldn’t be used to determine our financial aid. But all of that was mainly between her and my parents and their tax advisor, so I don’t really know the whole story bc I’m not really involved in it.

I agree with Slacker Mom - a firm number is better. If they’re going to pay 1/3 of a $60k school, does that mean that they’ll pay 100% of a $20k school? Or is it just the principle that regardless of cost, they want you on the hook for some portion of it?
