For the top 20 Us + top 10 LACs, which onese require a recommendation from the humanity teacher?

I believe that MIT is one

double post

i believe most every top college want “balanced” teacher LOR

I know, but none of the ivy schools requires a rec from humanity department explicitly on their webside. So far I only know MIT and Cal Tech have this specific requirement.

^
Why do you ask? I assume your grades will reflect your performance in humanities courses.

I can understand the question. Five years ago, when son was applying to colleges, strangely my technology engineering son had strong connections to two humanity teachers. Those were the recommendations that were sent to all the colleges accept for one - MIT. This was because MIT, unlike other colleges, actually specifies that one must be science/math and one humanities. Son had to go to his Physics teacher for that science rec. Though the man liked and respected S very much, I doubt that his was a strong writer. I doubt it is related but MIT was the only school that turned down my son.

Anyhow I can understand that an applicant may have teachers who they would to have doing their recommendations that may not, for whatever reason, include one science/math and one humanities. It does not mean that they do not have terrific grades. They may just not have that “spark” connection with other teachers or the an appropriate teacher may be known to be a terrible writer.
