Hi guys. I’m a junior from North Carolina. I’l put all my stats below and then explain my question:
GPA: 3.75 unweighted, 4.75 weighted (on a 6-point scale)
ACT: 34 Composite (35M, 35E, 34S, 33R)
PSAT: 1490 (750E, 740M, selection index score 224) easily within national merit finalist range, especially in North Carolina
APs: APUSH (3), Chemistry (3), Psychology (haven’t taken the exam yet), Environmental Science (haven’t taken the exam yet), Lang (haven’t taken the exam yet)
Senior year schedule: AP World History, AP Microeconomics, AP Literature, AP Calc AB, AP Stats
Letters of Recommendation: 9/10 from my AP Lang teacher (I only write 8s and 9s on our timed AP practice essays, and stay late all the time to review them, and get in the high 80% range on timed practice AP exam multiple choice tests) and we’ve been able to bond pretty nicely and he knows about my course rigor and admires my drive so he’ll write me a great letter
10/10 from my Honors Biology teacher (she was accepted to Princeton and Stanford, so she’ll be able to write a terrific letter, and I bonded with her more than any other teacher/administrator during high school, and got 99, 100, and 99 as my trimester grades in her class and she has nothing but good things to say about me, as I hear all the time from other teachers who tell me about how much she loves me)
ECs: Not a whole lot going on here. I played soccer freshman year, and racked up plenty of volunteer hours at a local EMS and through a Reading Partners program where I help struggling kids learn to read. And I joined the dive team junior year and went all the way to states, but I’m not sure I’ll do it again senior year. And I’ll be an eagle scout by the time application season rolls around. There’s nothing here that really stands out, anything that I totally threw myself into.
Anything else: I have a silver and two gold medals on the National Latin Exam (and hopefully another coming soon, I don’t yet have the results for the last one I took) and I got a 98 on the AFQT/ASVAB, but I’m pretty sure that means absolutely nothing.
Intended major: 100% definitely economics
I’m thinking Chapel Hill because it’s in-state tuition is pretty reasonable, and the business school is pretty good, but I’m completely open to going just about anywhere, although I think I’d prefer to stay somewhere in the US.
Money: not an issue up to around 20-25k a year, after that it’d be doable, but not easy. II have a younger brother (2 years younger) and a younger sister (four years younger), but my family income is $300k+ per year, so I won’t qualify for need based aid.
I think that’s pretty much everything there is to know about me. What colleges should I be looking at? Which colleges are within a realistic range for me to have a really good chance at admittance? Where could I get a full ride (or close to it)? Any advice about college?
Thanks
