Can I suggest you flip the question and ask, what type of school will be a good fit for me in terms of culture, academics, and affordability? Then try to find one where your application will make you a successful candidate (i.e. where a 27-29 ACT would make you a possible candidate).
These schools are all excellent and maybe precisely the best choices for you. Just to get you to ask yourself, I’ll note that American is an urban campus (though a distinct campus) in a big city. The same with Pittsburgh. Gettysburg is in a nice small town. I like them both, and maybe they are both good for you. But would one be much more preferable in terms of local culture, including the physical environment (city v. town) and student body?
If you truly love Gettysburg, maybe Denison would also be a great choice. Or Kalamazoo. Or Dickinson.
If you really love American and the other urban schools, maybe check out Clark University, Temple, VCU (really excellent in several areas, and students we’ve known have loved their experience there). Maybe also Cincinnati or Creighton or Minnesota–Twin Cities. Good luck!
I appreciate this but that wasnt the point of the thread. I looked at schools, specfiically those listed, and I wanted to know if that ACT range was good enough for those schools.
Most colleges report the middle 50% of scores. For example, American University reports the middle 50% as 27-31. So a 27 would be on the low side and a 29 would be more in the middle. Just google X university average ACT scores and you’ll find the info.
Google for the schools’ CDS (Common Data Set).
