I think almost every post on this thread that relates to this indicates that not only could this lead to a career in finance, but that it may be the preferable path for anyone who eventually wants to work at the highest level in the field. Even majors beyond economics, as mentioned by @MYOS1634 (25), may more than serve your purposes.
