I will be getting a new computer for college. I play a lot of video games so I want it to have a lot of power, but am conflicted if I should get a laptop or a desktop with a tablet or other way of taking notes. My major is CS Game Design. Thanks in advance for any help.

I think you should build one yourself since you are interested in computers. For me I’m just going to bring my Lenovo y580 laptop.

I would say laptop is best bet, a high end one would be ideal so you can play games. Having all work portable beats a desktop setup I think. I haven’t taken classes at ucsc yet. But from experience I have in engineering classes windows also better option

If you are a hardcore gamer, definitely don’t get a gaming laptop (ie alienware), as they tend to be way overpriced and can’t be upgraded. If you really want to play games and have something mobile, it would probably be cheaper to build a gaming rig and buy a cheap laptop separately.
