What consists of an essay?

I'm going to be a freshman, attending my local community college. I want to transfer to a university in the spring semester though.
I guess I'm more of a unique student because I took my senior year of high school at community college, taking classes to fulfill my senior year course requirements, while earning college credits. Going into college, I'll have 18 transferable credits.
I feel that I was motivated to do what I did, but struggled, but then learned what I needed to do to become successful in college, and I succeeded.
Do you think that my experience starting college a year earlier than my peers is a good, unique, essay?

To be honest, it’s boring the way you’ve described it here, and not that unique. A good essay, IMO, shows what your passion is (hopefully/usually your intended major) and tells a lot about you. I would suggest mentioning that you started college early, but not focusing on that.

I second everything that natasharose said, you mainly need to show your passion.

It seems kind of cliche to me. D: Unless you can add in more ‘character’ into the writing.

Well nata and fire, in the area that I live in, it is different and unique. Only about 5 kids or fewer in my area do what I did, so yeah, I still say it’s pretty unique. It’s different. And obviously my description on here is going to be boring because I’m not writing my essay to you guys or to college confidential. I was just summarizing? And amygrl, writing is my strength so I’m sure I can add character.
And I thought that your personal statement was about your major and why you chose it. Your essay can be about anything you want.
