Does anyone know what exactly constitutes a "legacy" for Univ of Virginia? For example, do uncles/aunts count or just direct ancestors such as parent/grandparent? Do great-grandparents count or only more recent family? Thanks.

A legacy is the child of alumni or step-child of alumni.

I’ve written about legacies on this board and on the blog in the past. Doing a search will probably return some more information.

Thank you, Dean.

A search on the blog yielded no hits on legacy or legacies.

Hm. I just did a search using the google box on my blog and got five pages of hits back.

:) bump, bump

Dean - it’s the search box in the upper left of the page on the toolbar (Share / Report Abuse / …) that returns no hits. Your Google box on the right side does yield hits. However, as an experiment, I tried other search terms that might go right to the question at hand, such as “legacy definition” and got nothing, and in browsing through the hits from “legacy”, the definition didn’t jump out anywhere. It’s mostly about process and statistics and people wondering how much legacy helps their chances.

Sorry, Fifty. The blog is conversational, not a handbook. I’ve addressed legacy time and again…which is why so many are able to answer questions on here.

My error, Dean. Our son is already an enrolled legacy so we don’t need no stinkin’ legacy info :). I was merely tempted by the search, so my apologies for the distraction.
