<p>I was wondering what the criteria is for a true research internship at research company/university lab (replicating basic lab procedures, coauthoring a paper,etc). </p>
<p>As a high school student, I would call anything that you have done in the lab to help out a professor as you being a research assistant. From entering data to being fundamental to writing the paper. Though it is very unlikely that a high school student will help write the paper as the research most profs are doing is usually above the average HS students’ head.</p>
<p>I guess everyone would count it differently - but thats my opinion. </p>
