What course:

Im just wondering what Science course I should take next year considering I want to pursue a history/Political Science major.

1) AP Enviromental Science
First year my school will be offering it; the topic seems to go well with a history major

2) AP Biology
I did pretty well in biology not much math involved

3) AP Chemistry
I excelled at chemistry, but since Junior year I'll have good grades in Chemistry and a solid SAT2 score in Chemistry is taking Chemistry AP in Senior year showing a lack of depth?

Is AP Enviromental Science generally considered an easy course? I want to keep my course load challenging since I can keep up with the work load, by the way AP Physics is out of my league.. period :)

What do you guys think, I know I know myself best, but my main questions I suppose are about AP Enviromental Science and the Chemistry thing.

Thanks!

AP Chemistry at my school is just, if not more, hard than AP Physics. I'd go with AP Biology, challenging, but not too challenging, especially for when senioritis strikes you

thanks for your reply just looking for some answers about enviromental science I suppose, I am leaning towards Biology, we have had the same lady teaching Bio she is hard but EVERYONE gets a 5 on the AP after they have, she is leaving next year so I may be caught with a complete idiot teaching and I may have to self-teach myself have the course

If you like math, AP Chem might be more of your flavor. If you prefer reading/memorizing/writing over math, then Bio is likely better. It all depends on your preference. I strongly prefer/enjoy math over reading, so AP Chem was a fun experience for me.

Do you have to take a science? Consider taking a second history course or another english.

take AP chem definitely

enviro is good for polysci because half of it is social science, laws, restrictions etc.

exam is mad easy, with a background in science, you could probably get a 3 on it before even starting the class.

although i've heard rumors of it being considered AP lite, it really depends on your school. My teacher was mad insane, but every single student got a 5, (except for one, who ironically, is going into marine biology)

realizing much of what I wrote is superfluous, if you like polysci, you will like APES

Hey guys thanks for all the replies. I am not a big math guy, I am doing very well in Chemistry and plan to take the SAT2 in it but i would imagine if I am not mistaken that tons of AP Chemistry will be math based.

My school offers 2 English APs and by next year I would have taken them both, and I would have taken 3 APs in Social Studes (1 year of honors Global History). So I will have to pack in a science.

Will Enviromental Science look plain bad, it seems like it will complement Political Science fairly well.

Anyway I am leaning towards Bio, but ckmets13 why do you recommend Chemistry, does it look that much better for college and is that AP credit in Chemistry more valuable?

Thanks a lot for the replies, keep em commin'

thanks brass you answered all my enviro science questions I only saw that post after i posted my previous post and the page refreshed

If they were a math person, they wouldn't be saying Physics is out of their league. I love math and hated AP Chem, although I did okay in it.

But I agree that Chemistry sounds like the best choice for you. AP Chem is not an easy class, so you won't be looked down on for taking it senior year.

All I can say is AP Chem is pretty hard, even if you like it. And you must have quite a bit of math proficiency.

For me, the hard part was wraping my mind around all the abstract concepts; The math in AP Chem doesn't go beyond Algbera II... if you know about logs, how to plug in numbers and solve for a variable, and a smattering of geometry you'll do fine.

Yeah I am going to see if I can balance Enviro and Bio, spending a lot more time on Biology of course. I am not incompetant by any means in Math, it just doesn't come naturally to me like everything else.

Anyway thanks for all the input guys, I found it most valuable

Hamster, I don't think the math is difficult in itself, but you just can't understand the math, you have to know how to manipulate it and all that jazz.

another thing about enviro

if you have taken human geography, you will find this course to be amazingly simple. As alot of it deals with demographics and population control.

If not, you will probably still find this course rather easy.
