what courses do colleges use?

i was wondering what most colleges use to determine GPA of an international student (Canada).
do they use every single course like foods, P.E., Auto maintenance.
or do they use specific courses?</p>

<p>E.g. Virginia tech, purdue, penn state, texas a&m, boston U, u of washington, UIUC, U of Michigan.</p>

<p>They use all academic courses (no PE etc). They also look at grades 9-12 in most caeses. </p>

<p>it depends on the context of the course and what is taught. If they are academic, yes.</p>
