no degrees in the extended family - lucky me :)

My parents both went to college in the Phillippines.

My dad was the first person in his extended family to go to college.
B.S. Accounting in the Phillippines (can't remember the name)
Then he joined the US Navy (300 Filipinos per year back then were allowed to enlist) and got a B.S. in Liberal Arts (Excelsior) and an Associates in Medical Technology (I think GW).
He works in a blood bank at the Navy base now as a civilian (retired from the Navy after 21 years in 1994)

My mom was from a more middle class family--most of them went to college.

She got a B.S. Nursing. from Far Eastern University (PH) With 30 odd years of experience--she's the real breadwinner in the family, lol. She just started a job in the Navy base emergency room, so they work in the same hospital now.

Thanks to my parents' hard work (and my dad's half-lucky break), we're pretty well off. It's amazing really--as a kid, my dad always thought he'd stay in the agriculture business. He hated the military training stuff they had to do after school (kind of like JROTC for them back then).

Both my parents have B.S. in electrical engineering.

My dad has degrees (I don't know what) in economics and management, and a Ph.D in Finance.

My mom has a Master's in computer sciences.

Dad-B.S, M.S, P.H.D Computer Science, National Taiwan Normal University, Stanford, UIUC.
Mom-B.A, M.A, Education National Taiwan Normal University, Stanford.

mom - BA math, BA studio Art, LLM, JD (TAX)
dad - BA econ, MS ag econ, MBA, PhD (International Business)
You can do anything!
