What did u do when u got denied?

What did you do when you got denied from your number one pick school? Was it a suprise to you? It was for me. How did you handle the situation? Its like you just got dumped by a girlfriend that you have had for however long you have been waiting for the admission decision.

haven’t had the experience with colleges but had them in other major stuff.
It feels like s***

crying works well, i went to sleep after i got rejected from yale, i woke up and felt much better  but ya i second, it sucks a lot

headbanged to some fast and hard thrash metal - its therapeutic for me.

I did something that I regret for the rest of my life. I couldn’t believe I had the gut to do it.

I wrote to all the colleges that rejected me and express my thank for their time and effort, and it was unfortunate that I couldn’t be a student there. Then, I move on with my life.

Check the website of a school that has accepted you or that you really like.

I second going to sleep!

When Penn rejected me, I went out with my friends and had a good time.
I didn’t let myself dwell. It worked well.

i didnt let it bother me
i just prayed that id get into my others

I was a little out of it for a bit, then I cried. Not really about being rejected, but I was upset that I had to do all this extra work and I wasn’t sure how my mom was going to pay for the application fee (and it was at Christmas, and no one likes worrying about money around Christmas…).

Then I researched other colleges like crazy, talked to a friend who was rejected by the same school, and congradulated my friends that were accepted.

It wasn’t a surprise, but I was just so READY to celebrate and be really happy, and instead I got rejected, so it was pretty sucky.

i’d start writing an appeal letter. thats my plan at least, if i dont get in

^^^^^
Why bother? That’s not going to do you any good.

I went out to dinner with my boyfriend and drowned my sorrows in dinner rolls. It gave me a chance to get some support and just vent for a bit. And eat a lot of really good rolls.

I found out while watching Superbad with my gf, so I just told her and we continued watching the movie as if nothing had happened. I really expected it anyway by then.

For some state schools, appeals can actually work. It works all the time in the UC system, for instance.

Really? I’ve never heard of them before. It seems like they’d just get even more annoyed with the flood of appeal letters in april/may. I’m suprised they even read them.

There is an official appeals process for UC schools:

“Students who are not admitted may request a review of the decision if they believe there was an error in the evaluation or can provide new and compelling information not included in the initial application. Each campus has specific procedures to handle such appeals. Contact the campus Admissions Office for information.”

threats :)

The state of Florida also requires all state colleges to have an appeals process and has a policy almost verbatim from California’s.

I’m already anticipating a rejection so hopefully it should come as no surprise to me.
