I agree, I also put I II and III.

Explain why it had to be 7 8.5 10

Can we please end this debate? We've all explained our reasons for putting what we did. Now let's make peace and wait for the scores to come out.

It was definitely all three of them. I am positive it said real numbers.

Unless you've gotten 800 math what you are "positive" of hardly has any value.

You don't have to have gotten 800 math to recognize the word REALS in a problem.

ivyleague i'll explain it to u. The answer is all three, as it said real numbers.

The end points had to be 2 and 20, the median was 6 and mode was 3. The question asked for a total of 7 numbers so...

2,3,3,6,x,y,20 was how you could figure out values.

x+y+34 / 7 could equal 7,8.5 or 10

x+y could equal 36 with x being 17 and y being 19 so
2,3,3,6,17,19,20. Average = 10

x+y could equal 15 with x being 7 and y bein 8 so
2,3,3,6,7,8,20. Average = 7

x+y could equal 25.5 with x being 10 y being 15.5. Because it said REAL numbers, you could use these values. Trust me I read the question like 10 times. The arrangement would look like this:
2,3,3,6,10,15.5,20. Average 8.5

Thus all three answers worked

The problem was incredibly easy if you know how to read.

It's not about recognizing the world "real", it is making the mistake of not noticing a key word like integers somewhere. That's the kind of stuff that seperates 800's from everyone else. Your math is all good, thrills, the issue here is if the word integers showed up, and I'm pretty confident it did.

I'm not doubting that integers showed up, but there was definitely the mention of reals as well.

No doubt, I'm pretty sure I saw real as well. But the deciding factor would be the key word integers, which would make the difference between being able to include 8.5, or not.

Guys I don't know any more. Alot of people put I II III. I put I III , NOT 8.5. So I guess we made a mistake. It probably just asked for reals , I guess we are wrong.

Maybe. Screw it, 790 is fine with me.

I hate how the Math can be destroyed by your ability to read. I mix up words all the time in my head but I havn't been proven medically as dyslexic.

Oh well, we will find out on the 13th what the question really said.
