What did/will you do in the two summers before you apllied for college?

I interned at a law firm in New York City. You should try to get a summer job or something. You can also participate in one of those summer programs offered by colleges.

I’m a sophomore now, and I’m going to be working at a camp that I attended at for a ton of years, and then at the end I’m gonna go to football practice about a month before school starts.

Fairly certain this question on the Princeton application was one of the reasons I was rejected. Did write a funny essay though. So many puns.

@Pancaked What did you write about?

I know that my last summer where I didn’t do anything significant is going to kill me. Why did the world cup have to take place in 2010??

Party and bull ****!

volunteer abroad

I don’t remember exactly. I wrote about reading which included Wikileaks and the Onion, among other books about political corruption and corporate greed and such. I wrote about a job at a shoe store (which was the root of 8+ foot related puns). I wrote about how incredible distorted my sleeping schedule was.

What I DIDN’T write about was studying a scholastic topic of interest, pursuing research/internships, going to summer camps, following my passions, etc etc. My essay was entertaining but I think Princeton was looking for a bit more than amusement on that question. I almost decided not to apply when I saw that question, haha.

Summer before junior year: PSAT/SAT prep class for 6 weeks, summer school, traveled around China for 3 weeks.

Prospective summer before senior year: return to China for some sightseeing, work experience, research colleges, and practice my viola. :-D

I worked. A lot.

Get some spending money for when you get to college. The adcoms also like to see steady jobs because it shows you can stick with something.

Pancaked, that question didn’t need to be answered as an essay. I simply listed my programs and the length of time I spent at them. It sounds like a great essay though.

Before Junior year:
I did summer school (to get ahead) and the usual football summer training and hell week. I really had no time for anything else.

Before Senior year:
I plan on taking Some classes in Community College and doing my miniprojects like IR Rangefinder based 3D image generation. I haven’t quite finished my Sophomore year and I will start it from scratch and do some computer vision stuff. Possibly Active Stereoscopic Vision or something like that.

Before Junior year:

 1. spent a few weeks recording my grandfather’s life story about the holocaust and being in the polish underground army. (hope to make it into a book soon, even if just for the enjoyment of our family)
 2. Spanish immersion program in Costa Rica. More like a mix between language immersion, as well as adventure and some community service. (Had an absolute blast. Really cheap, too! Message me if anyone wants the name.)

This summer (before senior year):

 1. Working in a Neurology lab at Albert Einstein studying neurotransmitters and proteins in the brain related to epilepsy. Will be my Intel/Siemens/etc project
 2. Also running as administrator for SAT (and PSAT/AP/SAT II/regular class) tutoring services. Will be tutoring, helping to organize tutors/teaching methods, and proctoring monthly tests. A current senior created it, but I will take over ownership at the end of the summer and expand it to even more towns. If anyone on Long Island is interested: [Peer-to-Peer Prep Tutoring Services](http://www.wix.com/peer2peerprep/tutoring)
 3. Hopefully will become a teen representative for the National Tourette’s Syndrome Association which would let me get involved in learning about/urging action on legislation for TS both at a local and national level.

Well, surely this question should/can get more answers!

Academic camps, research ( with supervision from a professor) competition (math…science), volunteer

2 summers before: family trip
Summer before: family trip + small volunteering job (5~6 weeks)

Perfectly relaxing.
Still got into respectable colleges.

Did someone delete my post?

EDIT: Lol nvm
