Im having major writers block right now on the roommate essay and on the long one. What are you all writing about for those essays? I need inspiration X-(

long one - common app, modified to fit picture theme
roommate - stuck too -_-

bbuuummmpppp

For the roomate essay, I talked about my brother's mental illness and how I learned to be patient with other people, even during the worst of times. At the end I just said how my roomate wouldn't have to worry about upsetting me over things and how I would be patient with him.

i'm working on that one too. i am writing about coming to America(i know it's a total cliche but i can't think of anything). almost make me wish i had someone with mental illness to take care of (please don't take offense). it sounds so interesting

btw, is it really bad to write the short essays on the same topic as the long essay?

would be cool if there is a college essay repository with everyone's old college essays...

i am so lucky that I go to a boarding school and am a residential advisor
so i got the roommate essay covered
but i am having trouble with the intellectual interest one
are you guys just writing about your favorite class??

i wrote about the rubik's cube for the intellectual interest one. I dont know if it is but I'm still counting it as one.

For the intellectual interest essay, I talked about my 8th grade French class trip to Montreal and Quebec and how the expeirence gave me a chance to apply what I learned in the classroom to real life.

The rubiks cube could easily be a great topic for an intellectual interest essay. I think Stanford actually had a class about the mathematics of a rubiks cube that I believe one of my friends took last year...

My roommate essay was kinda lame. I wrote about joining the badminton team even though I wasn't an athlete. I talked about how I learned to just loosen up and have a good time and try new things, even if at first I wasn't good at them.

My long essay was a typical conversation between my friends and I over lunch.

My intellectual interest essay was about perceptual learning and machine learning issues that related to research I'd done.

My activity essay was about how my experiences in debate have made me a better scientist.

long one- i wrote about my faja
roommate- i wrote about how once i start laughing, i absolutely cannot stop for literally like 10-30 minutes.

long one: picture, but i'm stuck
roommate: first time i performed my band's music

(kareniscreepy, I totally get The Shins reference in your username!!! haha)

YAYYYY! <3, you're the awesome.

what kind of music does your band play?

It's just me actually, I play all instruments.
It's not very good music right now, it's mostly simple folkish sounding stuff.
I haven't had time to work on anything lately because of all these COLLEGE APPS.
RAWWR. lol
