What did you all think of October 15th 2008 PSAT?

Gahhhh....I hate questions like that. Especially when people in your classroom are being really annoying because they dont care about the test.

for the 75<ldasjfljsd<76, what was in the middle?

I still feel confident that I did well on the math section. :x

Ingrette, (x-2)/3.
Just divide by two to get your desired interval.

It was 75 < (x-2)/3 < 76

why divide by 2?

I really hope math has a friendly curve. I got 3 wrong so far and on some tests that could be like a 69 :(!!!

On the other hand, I thought that writing was really easy and I think I honestly might have gotten them all right. The only one I wasnt sure about was about a whale or something.

I know I got 1 CR wrong. The answer was supercilious and I put magnanimous.

It asked for a possible value for (x-2)/6, which is (x-2)/3 divided by two.
Back to the discussion...
I think I got around a 60 for the CR and WR sections. I hope I make NMS.

Because it asked for a value of (x-2)/6.

(x-2)/3 x 1/2 = (x-2)/6

Cut Up Box:

The original Volume was 666 = 144.

They took off 4 Inch squares from the bottom
Ergo ~ 446 (In my understanding the height was not changed).

96 not 112?

The height grew to 7 inches because of the removal of the 1 square inch boxes on the bottom.

Tilagaham, there were only five faces because, remember, the top was cut off.
EDIT: I dunno how I arrived at 112 then.
I just summed the areas of the four rectangular areas and the base: 4[6*4]+16.

@tilgaham

you are making the sides taller by cutting into the base. 7, not 6.

How does cutting into the base of a cardboard box make the sides taller? Explain this to me please?

How did my method work if the height of the rectangular box supposedly increased?

I thought I did pretty well, the only one I skipped was that last one on the first math section where you had to find the shaded area ughh I'm so bad at those

I'm pretty sure I got 112 for the cut-box one also

wait did the box one ask for area or volume

Tilgaham, i also got 96 for that question

volume. so 7x4x4=112.

i have taken a lot of practice PSATs but I thought that one was much harder than PSATs in past years. Anyone agree with me?
