What did you guys put for the Optional Additional Info section?

You may upload an additional one-page statement to tell us of any circumstances that you believe we should take into consideration in the evaluation of your application that has not been presented elsewhere in this Supplement or the Common Application. Please do not provide a resume, another essay, or additional writing samples. Most candidates will not submit this optional additional information.

I was just wondering what we could put on here if it can't be a resume, essay, or writing samples.

Would a research abstract or a list of all the events I have participated in for one of my EC be okay?

Thanks

I think Stanford states do not send in extra stuff. The questionaires are plenty.

they say do not put extra stuff... but i was accepted and i put in a few awards from science fairs in addition to a short paragraph about what i have done in my youth group and awards i have won in my region (youth group-wise). I did this because no where else on my app did i write about this stuff, and felt it was very important to understanding my leadership potential that wasnt covered anywhere else. I definitely would use this section only if you feel really that you must use it. I did feel that way however.

i don't know if this was good or bad - but i did it and was still accepted.

so do what you think feels right in terms of telling them about you. don't do too much - just as short as humanly possible as not to waste time, but give them the info they need to make an educated decision.

There's a lot of confusion on this, because the Stanford app has 2 sections labeled Additional Information - one is in the common app, and you should certainly use it to elaborate on your key ECs, (but don't put in a resume there that rehashes what your app already has in it!) and the other is in the Stanford Supplement, where they are very clear on the limited set of things it is to be used for.

There's been an urban legend on this site that the Common App Additional Info section is not to be used - believe that at your own peril, there is no way you can do justice to your ECs in the EC table. BUT the Supplement Additional Info is indeed only for a restricted set of content.
