What did your acceptance package look like?

C,mon all you Amherst folks! My D will be receiving notification of her ED app by or on Dec. 15th. What did your acceptance letter or package look like? Was it a big envelope, or a thin one? Was it from Fedex? Let us know what to look for. Thanks.

UPS! Big cardboard envelope, only one letter inside. I don't think they would bother to send it by UPS if it were a defferal, although I may be wrong.

buuump! Please tell me.

92 people read the thread, and only one responded? What is it, a secret?

buuump! Please?

BJM8, 92 people read the thread and only one got an acceptance. There you have it. :(

You know, everyone says you have a sense of humor. As I'm still fairly new to this site I'll assume you thought that was funny. LOL

The problem is that D did not do ED, so I don't know how the school does that. My D received RD early write and it came in large envelope, with just the letter, and FA immediately following in an even thicker envelope with all the info needed, and forms to fill out.

BJM8, who is this "everybody" you speak of? I've been wanting to meet them for a long time. Regardless, even if everyone says I have a sense of humor, you'll notice no qualitative label was specified.

evitajr1 has it wrong. I got a regular sized letter first, just in the regular-sized Express Mail envelope. The next letter I got (Financial Aid) was a thin, yet large, white envelope. The acceptance package that everyone got was thick and large and white (8X10ish.)

Good luck all ED applicants! Brrr...being from Houston I'm not used to this weather. Nice but cold.

I've heard tht the acceptance package comes in a large UPS envelope with Amherst written on the side. Is this true?

D applied and was admitted RD, got the Express mail envelope that tansy got Amherst is listed in the Return address, but I don't remember seeing Amherst written on the side.

FA was in a thin large white envelope. This parent wasn't crazy about the aid we got from Amherst as it was considerably lower than comprable packages (Williams and Dartmouth), and they made errors in calculating the aid (which they based on my having 2 children and I have an only child. Scared to think of what it would have been based on one child). Even though she loved amherst, it wasn't her first choice so we did not request to have corrections or negotiate the aid package.

Is this express envelope a large one, like 8X11?

No offense or anything, but I don't quite understand what the big deal is. Either you daughter will be accepted or she will not. If she is, you will (hopefully) forget the size, shape, and color of printing on the envelope in the excitement of receiving said acceptance. If not, I guess you'll know by the contents within. There's nothing you can really do to alter the decision now, and obsessing about the mail system/packaging used by the College is pretty pointless.

Yeah. so true! Just making conversation to while away the hour, I guess. Sorry I took up your time with such drivel.

What about the rejection or deferal letters?
Do they send out rejections at the same time as the acceptance letters?
Would the shipping method be same (i.e. Fedex) or would they use slower USPS first class mail?

BJM8, for a few acceptances, a couple of the more whimsical admissions staff send out acceptances in envelopes with "SYRACUSE" stamped boldly in orange on the outside. They get quite merry envisioning the momentary confusion they cause.

Obviously this thread is just plain dead! Let it go TheDad. Let it go!

Why...is the last equine expired from flogging?

If you submit results from the OLD SAT, they require three SAT II's. If you submit the NEW SAT, they only require two SAT II's. I guess the writing section does count for something at Amherst. Hope this helps.
