What do accepted students resume's look like?

I just want to know what it takes to get into Cornell !

I EDed to CAS, top 5% in my class, 1360 combined SAT, 720 Physics, 800 Math II, above average amounts of AP’s for my school (most top students can take 4 I managed to take 5/6 (if you count bc as 2)), swim team captain, various clubs and leadership positions, a couple summer program things.

Also you can look on the "official ED/EA results thread"s

If you are unhooked, accepted students will generally be in at least the top 10% of the class, have taken around 5 or more ap classes, and scored 1450+ o the critical reading and math portion of the sat or a 33+ act. I got accepted to the college of engineering with 10 ap classes (half science and math ones too), top 10% of the class, 1520 critical reading and matg sat, and 35 ACT.

Those numbers get your foot in the door however. You still need exceptional essays, recommendation lrttrrs , ECs, etc, to get through the door.

^My S was accepted ED to engineering with stat’s similar to those above. His essays were outstanding. He wrote about why he wanted to study ORIE. He had been to some classes at Cornell and wrote about that. His Common App essay was really reflective of who is as a person. He did teaching to underserved people in our town over the summers - algebra 1, 2, and mythology. He also played football and lacrosse. I think he was well-rounded, as well as accomplished in academics.

My D was admitted ED to College of Human Ecology with a 31 ACT / 1350 SAT. Top 10% in class taking the most rigorous course schedule possible at her school. EC’s (class president, varsity swim team captain for 3 years, vice president of Threate organization, many awards in both swimming & theatre) , her letters of rec. (GC compared her favorably to other graduates from her school who have been successful at Ivy league schools), & essays (theme of Human Ec one was what a blessing it was to grow up in a small town) is what got her admitted.

does wanting to major in russian help at all? some say thats a rare major idk

RD engineering w/ 3.97 gpa UW/4.6+ W, 38/45 on IB diploma, 1580 SAT, 800/800/800 on math/physics/chem SAT II’s. mostly technology focused ECs w/ leadership

ePED13

I had actually wanted to be a Russian major when I applied to Cornell, but they actually got rid of the major two years ago, which was unfortunate. Instead, I applied for Chemistry and I am now doing Bio/Premed/Econ and still taking Russian. While the major is gone, there are still quite a few Russian classes you can take. I really enjoy the Russian professors (there are 3 language professors). Good luck and wanting to study Russian will definitely make you stand out. I got a likely letter when I applied.

ooh right i see that russians gone as a major. thanks though(;
