What do adcoms think about AP stats?

I took the highest level math, Calc BC, offered at my school junior year and want to know what class to take senior year. I’m thinking about registering for Statistics at a local community hospital and make it non-credit. How would it look to adcoms if I didn’t take it? My schedule would be like this:

AP Physics
AP Chem
AP Econ/Govnt
AP Spanish 4
AP Lit
(statistics at local community college)

Also, do senior classes really make a difference in admissions? Please answer. Thanks.

bump bump bump?

in my OWN opinion, you are totally fine without a CC statistics
you already have a very strong courseload. Stats wouldnt help that much.

i'd recommend you to focus more on to your admission app. and your other hs classes.
yes, i think, senior classes (esp. first semester!) do make a difference in admissions

Thanks. Anyone else?

is there any other AP course that you can take?

I don't think that it's a big deal that you take stats at a local community college. I was fine without it. Then again, you might get an extra boost because adcoms will see that you are going beyond what your high school has to offer and challenging yourself. The call is yours but make sure that you have time left for your apps like duh said.

yeah I think u'd def get an extra boost - at least thats what I thought when I took cc classes on the side. Its pretty difficult to juggle the 2 tho, especially since those cc classes are at night when uve already gone thru 7 hrs of school and cant absorb much more. I found mysellf basically leaving that class till the end after all my high school stuff was finished buts its generally much easier than AP so I still wound up with strait A's

My school sadly doesn't offer any AP classes for 6th period and I need to take orchestra 0 period (without signing up). How significant do you think taking AP Stats will be? I mean... if 100% was all the deciding factors in admitting a student, then how much would taking a CC stats or differentiable equations class be worth?

Also: I can take zero period AP Psychology instead of doing orchestra. Would it be better if I continued to do music all four years or switch to AP Psychology

Take a differential equations, multivariable calculus or linear algebra class, not a statistics one. Colleges will respect them much more - AP stats is not considered a very rigorous class.

Also, definitely don't give up music for AP Psychology. AP Psychology is generally acknowledged as the least rigorous, most meaningless class in the AP program, and admissions officers have come to despise it so much that it might almost be a negative.

I agree with random...if you want to 'look' better, take the next in the Calc sequence. But, AP Chem and AP Physics can be a load. Duh is right, take 5 classes and polish essays and ec's.

Take orchestra. AP Stats and AP Psych are so-called 'AP Lites' bcos they are equivalent to a semester course in college, as opposed to a year-long course. Thus, they aren't perceived as strongly as Calc, Physics, Chem, Bio, Euro, & Lit.

Thanks everyone. I made my decision to take differentiable equations or some higher math at a community college.

Oh and one more question: Out of differential equations, multivariable calculus, and linear algebra class, which one is the easiest? I don't want to get stabbed with the sharp academic dagger.

Are you serious that AP Psychology is looked down upon? Do you mean that it is not recommended to take it INSTEAD of a tougher class or is do adcoms not like students taking AP Psychology (sounds rediculous)?
