What do Colleges Think of Retaking Classes?

I did horrible in both AP Physics and APUSH. I had a rough 1st Semester due to serious family issues. I spoke to my guidance counselor and she advised me that I would able to retake both classes online through FLVS (although I would be taking the Semester Honors Equivalent of Physics and the AP version of US History). She said that the grade I received through the online course would be taken and my other grade would be dropped from my transcript (Through Grade Forgiveness). But she only told me that Florida colleges would accept my successful attempt in these classes. I'm not sure what other out of state colleges would think of retaking my classes. Would they accept the better grade or both grades? Because if they accept both attempts (good and bad) I would have around a 3.4, but if they were to accept only my good attempt I would have around a 3.5 UW GPA. So what would show on my transcript, both grades or only one.

bump

anyone?

anyone? Come On!

I don’t think it should hurt; showing that you actually can do the material would definitely help your case.

^thanks theBybee

Does anyone else know anything about retaking classes?

anyone else?

If you retake a class, I believe it completely wipes out your previous grade. Colleges WON’T see it at all. Check with your gc to make sure.

^thank you. thank you. thank you!

^^
Not sure about that. It depends on the school.

In most cases, though, the old grade remains around but the credits attempted are removed and it doesn’t count in your GPA. But colleges will still see it. Kind of like healing a broken bone.

^Ok. Thanks
