What Do Colleges Think When They See An Applicant With A High SAT Score And A Low GPA

<p>I kind of fit into that category, My ACT is really above average but my GPA is low. Also I think my essays are pretty well written. Would they just assume I'm smart but I just dont apply myself in school? And how would that affect my chances at getting accepted</p>
