I remember there was a post on this in the old forum sigh

Jus wanted to ask (cos I haven’t had a chance to visit the H campus):

what do undergrads (or grads) wear? Is it like a uniform of seemingly relaxed “homeless-looking” clothing, or are there actually “trendy” (hate using that word) people on campus?

How pretty/vain are the girls? (Btw does anyone remember the old thread (once again in the old forum on “Which Ivy has the hottest girls?”? Lol ) Or do people ignore the physical and focus on the mental?

When I visited (in November) it was typical college kid stuff... A lot of hooded sweatshirts, jeans, etc. Some kids dressed preppy, some looked like they just rolled out of bed. Nothing too exciting.

Nearly everyone wears ordinary college kid clothes - jeans, etc. Anything that is comfortable.

And looking around campus and at the facebook, I'd say there are plenty of good looking girls at Harvard. And judging by their manner of dress and casual friendliness, I'd say not very many of them are vain.

Judging American culture based on how it's portrayed in movies is always a mistake. In fact, this is true of any culture I sure wouldn't form an accurate opinion of the French based on how they are portrayed by Hollywood. Movies usually rely exaggeration combined with outright misinformation to reinforce stereotypes.

I am not applying to Harvard at all. I am the parent of a Harvard freshman. In fact I am flying out to Harvard tomorrow to attend Freshman Parents Weekend for the Class of '08.

And no, a 1500 SAT is not too low. But no matter how high it is, your app needs to be strong in many other ways as well.

I guess I need to know what to wear to the 1.7 mile fun-run on Saturday morning. My D has signed me up to compete for the greater glory of her dorm. Apparently extra intra-mural points are awarded for running in costume.
