What do I answer to the question "do u intend to apply for need-based aid"? if...

I havent filed my FAFSA yet, but I WILL. Although, my mom said we probably wont get anything and i'm not sure exactly how much they earn but she told me 200,000 last time. So What do i put as my answer on all my college apps? i guess its not need-based, but it IS going to be filed. also our adjusted gross income is -64,000. whatever that means...

You answer yes.

even if i dont necessarily NEED it?

btw…how do u and others find my posts if i dont post it on NYU? do u guyz click on my name and then search it or sumthing?

Ha, no. I just happened to be looking on the financial aid thread, honestly.

You can answer “no.” The purpose that you’re filling out a FAFSA is just to possibly get a personal Stafford loan. You already know that you won’t qualify for institutional aid.

So, put “no.” You don’t want to hurt your chances by implying that you’ll be needing institutional aid.

Someone on another thread said that you can legitimately put “no” if all you’ll be seeking is a personal Stafford student loan.

thanks! i was thinkin the same
