I made an appointment w my advisor bc you have to see them once per semester so I wanted to do it early but im not sure what to ask im nervous?
No worries about it, Just tell to your advisor, “I don’t know how start”, I guess all freshman are in the same situation. The advisor is a trained people he/she will know give you advise.
When he/shell talking to you the questions are gonna show up.
Don’t be nervous. It is probably just a meeting to check in and see how you are adjusting to college life. If you have any questions certainly ask them, but if you don’t then no worries.
If you don’t have a major yet, you could ask for advice about choosing one.
If you do have a major, you can ask for guidance about required classes and what order to take them in.
In either case, you might get clarification about how registration works, anything you should be aware of, recommended classes. If you have defined career goals, be sure to mention them so the advisor can work with you to achieve those. If you don’t, ask about career counseling on campus (I’m betting the Career Center (or whatever it’s called at your school) has something).
They might want to know how your classes are going and if you’re having any difficulties, so think about those things in advance. They might suggest you visit the Writing Center or Tutoring Center - this is not an insult but a suggestion for ways to get the most out of your college experience.
It’s possible you might have to go back again to get a code for registration later in the semester, but having a first visit will make that appointment more efficient.
“What classes should I take next semester?”
