So there are a few schools I'm applying to that does not require an essay or a personal statement (Optional) but I want to send them anyways, since it won't hurt at all. The problem is their online application does not have a "Box" where I can paste in my essay to submit or an "Upload" button to upload my essay. In this case, what should I do? Should I mail my essay to the colleges myself? Is that alright?

If the college’s application does not have a spot for you to put an essay, it’s a very good bet that they won’t read any essay you choose to send. Really, would it be fair to give that much more time to an applicant just because they sent something that wasn’t required?

Don’t bypass what they are looking for. They don’t ask for essays because they aren’t equipped to read thousands of essays. you aren’t a special case. Most likely case, your essay will be ignored. Worse scenario, your essay is seen as pandering.
