Ok, so I am currently a junior in high school. I took the sat 3 times. Once, for practice, near the end of freshman year. That was a stupid idea which I will get to later. Once, november of sophomore year. Once, january of sophomore year. Both times I took it during sophomore year were in order to apply for a program in which they consider sat scores. Here are my scores. btw my top choices for college include MIT, CalTech, and Stanford. Some of my colleges allow score choice, Stanford wants all scores in ACT and SAT, and some want all scores in either ACT or SAT.
end of freshman year 620 R 800 M 660 W 2080
November sophomore 650 R 750 M 740 W 2140
January Sophomore 690 R 800 M 700 W 2190
Super Score 690 R 800 M 740 W 2230
I am considering retaking the SAT in january, but I am not sure. I am not too happy with my Reading score, and I keep hearing that for top colleges you want at least 700 in each category. However, I feel like taking it 4 times would look bad to colleges that don’t allow score choice like stanford and carnegie-mellon. Also, I am looking at other options like the new SAT and the ACT. I am not sure what to do. For colleges that want all scores in the SAT does that mean that if you took the old and the new then you have to submit all of those scores? Should I study for and retake the SAT in january, or should I just wait and take the new sat in march? Maybe, take the old sat in january and take the new sat in march? How about the ACT? I am not sure what to do. I don’t want to end up taking too many exams and having stanford look down on me for that.
