Hello there,
I have already been accepted at Kenyon. I finished my senior year this June. I really do not know what to do to pass time before I get to Kenyon. Please help me out to have some fun before I leave home (Nepal).
Any suggestion will be heartily thanked.
Thanks.

Can you get a job? Are jobs for young people available where you are? What are your classmates doing - are they already at college?

Chochu, how about a train ride around Europe? Backpack Australia, explore countries in the Southern part of Africa, teach English in Tibet, get a course in lifesaving, work abroad... so many exciting things to do.. and many of them you could probably even earn money doing.

motheroftwo,
I taught General Paper to A Level students and English Literature to O Level students for eight months after I completed my A Levels. This was in Kathmandu, the capital city. Now, after being accepted, I have returned to my hometown Biratnagar. Jobs are a little rare. I had been offered a newsreading job in a FM station here but all news programs in the FM have been indefinitely suspended. I would have numerous opportunities had I been in Kathmandu but I now want to spend some time with my parents since it will be quite a while before I see them again. To add to my woes, since I studied in Kathmandu for the last ten years, I have very few friends here in Biratnagar. The only thing that I do now is practice cricket in the club to play an upcoming tournament.
Our school does not encourage us to apply in our senior year, hence most of my friends, par one or two, are not yet in college. Most of them are busy applying as they were not accepted in the ED programs. A few are working, but again in Kathmandu.

pheezik, your suggestion is certainly very interesting but it is not feasible. At this time in Nepal, it is next to impossible to be granted a visa to visit countries for a fun tour. Besides, I am sure my parents will object as they want me to spend some time with them before I leave. I have planned a trip to Base Camp(Mt. Everest) later in March.
thanks anyways and hope to hear some more ideas from all of you.
pheezik, what are you doing these days?s

chochu - I didn't realize that you have returned to your home to stay with you parents. It is good to spend time with your family before going so far away to college. I really don't know what to suggest to you, as I don't know what is available to you in your city or your interests. Obvious suggestions are reading books of interest and looking at things of interest on the internet, as the world is literally at your fingertips. Can you keep playing cricket after the tournament is over? Can you visit friends from your school who have returned to their home cities? I don't know if travel like this is feasible for you. Other than this, I am really not sure what to suggest.

motheroftwo,
Thank you very much for the concern. I am pretty much hooked up to the internet these days with nothing else to do. I am thinking about getting a job soon. I will be playing cricket even after the tournament. The tournament is not until next week and will continue for quite some time so that is not a bother. About travelling, it is not really restricted but travelling by bus is not safe, to say the least. It is not exactly feasible to visit friends making air trips so that is pretty much out of the question as well.
Thanks anyways for all your concern and help.
Have a good day.
