when applying as a transfer to schools, naturally they ask for your intended major, and some have greater requirements than others. i've been debating between sociology and journilism(more so journalism) as my major. unc chapel hill has a great journalism school and i was wondering....would it be slightly easier for me to get in to unc if i put sociology as my major and later say that i changed my mind?

i think that they say that what your intended major has no bearing on if you are admitted or not. I personal do not believe it and i think that you have a better shot at sociology rather than journalism. I have heard that their application for transfer is difficult, have fun with that one.

i am pretty sure that it is not welcomed for to change your mind. At a top university they want you in and out in two as a junior transfer and they want you to be decisive about what you want to do by your junior year. I would apply for what you want to do, don't apply to just get into the school. If your grades are good then you will have a decent shot at getting in. Are you in-state or out?
