I am just looking for advice on what I should do with what I have on the table regarding college admissions. I would appreciate any opinions or feedback, and even experiences from any of the colleges. Any information regarding academics, diversity, environment/culture, extracurriculars, etc. I am looking to pursue Business Administration. I appreciate your time and help!
Here are my options:
University of Connecticut (26k/year)
Drexel University (32k/year)
University of Richmond (34k/year)
Syracuse University (35k/year)
Bentley University (39k/year)
Penn State University (50k/year)
Waitlisted: Goerge Washington University, Northeastern University, New York University
Richmond seems to be the sweet spot for prestige, price and strength of the business program. But are your parents able and willing to pay the listed prices?
As someone who is involved in campus recruiting for a large firm, Richmond will be the most difficult to find a job, especially if you don’t want to work regionally. All of the others will be stronger - Bentley and Drexel tend to be more regional, but I assume you’re from the NE. Most opps will be at PSU, Syracuse, and UConn but given the cost of Penn State, you’re probably better going with one of the others.
The only waitlist school I would push would be Northeastern because their co-op program is so strong.
Though literally all of your choices offer solid business programs, Richmond represents a particularly nice opportunity for its combination of strong general academics and undergraduate focus.
@RelicAndType My parents are able to afford no more than 35k/year bc I have a sibling in college and another going to college a year from now. Also, yes I am from CT.
@Mwfan1921 These are my net cost excluding the government loans and work studies.
In terms of opportunities post-graduation which schools are best? I also do plan on pursuing a Master’s Degree, so what schools would be best for graduate school (doesn’t have to be one of the colleges above)?
Also, how would you rank each of the school’s business programs in general?
If you plan to go to grad school for an MBA, I wouldn’t recommend majoring in business as an undergrad. Take a few business courses just to see if you like it, but a major in something else gives you a more well rounded resume for Graduate business school
Graduates of highly selective colleges without undergraduate business majors tend to be disproportionately represented in elite MBA programs. I’m wondering why you asked, though, since your choices seem to be established?

I’m not sure this is always true. It’s true that ivy lib arts majors do well at b school. I’m not sure that UConn lib arts majors do better than UConn business majors. (I do know that Penn Wharton kids do better than Penn Arts and Sciences).
