What do I do?!

Since the ACT test is coming up soon, I just started prepping this week. I took all reading sections in the "Real" book. I got a 26, 27, and my latest score was a 23!!! OMG...what do I do next? I didn't have any time (4 minutes) for the last passage, missing 6/10 from that passage alone. Help? Thanks! :-(

Keep trying different strategies. They all are derived from three: read questions first then read passage, read passage then read questions and read part of a passage and then read questions (I suggest this one), but you have to be quick.

Usually, I will read the first 2-3 paragraphs (maybe 1/3 to 1/2 the passage) and then look at the first 3 or 4 questions and see if something rings a bell, if it doesn't I just keep going for another paragraph, then repeat. You're bound to find something, and once you answer one question, it becomes a lot easier.

Go buy PR book with CD (2 book tests which are good, 4 on CD (i'm not sure how good they are)) and just experiment with whatever reading method works for you...best of luck.

Rman...I tried doing your method (you were my inspiration), but I ended up reading the rest, like speed read. I got a 27 doing what you said, but a 23 because I didn't do like the last passage (guessing).

Don't give up glucose...you have to play with it a bit. Don't speed read, its unnecessary. First things first, don't time yourself while doing hte passage, accuracy then speed.

As long as you have a lot of tesing material, then you can experiment like crazy. And though this method worked for me, try one where you just read the entire passage and then when you see a question, refer to a particular part of a passage.

But DON'T speed read more than you feel comfortable doing.

Anyway, don't give up man, you've still got 3 days. Greater things have been done in 4 days.

P.S.: I don't understand, did you get a 27 doing my method or a 23? Did it help or hurt?

Well I got a 27 and a 23 with your way...the only deal is, I guess I didn't understand one passage, or took to long on one passage, but it caused me to not get a chance to really read they last passage, so I basically guessed (6/10 wrong).

bump bump bump
