An email was sent to me from the FAFSA saying additional action required but my information is as accurate as it is to my situation and all the representatives tell me to do different things. what do I do????

I don’t think this is enough information for someone to help you. Exactly what does the email ask you to do? What steps have you taken so far? Who are “all the representatives”, and specifically what conflicting advice have you been given?

If the FAFSA says further action is required, it also says that there is a problem. What is the problem? If you can tell us that, we can give you advice. Without that, we can’t tell you anything.

Thanks for the quick reply intparent, it is just that my parents are in a foreign country, not required to pay taxes, but they earn an income. However, the FAFSA says the error is that my parents have income but do not file taxes
So I do the live chat with a represetantive thing on the website and here are ALL the things they said I do:
- Contact each school (Some say before, some say after)
- Your “processed” application was rejected already, you have to start over
- Move the income to untaxed others section
- Nothing

kelsmom, thank you also, I’m so stressed out right now.
The problem, I mentioned is in the post above.

From the financial aid guide:
Foreign income
As noted in Step 2 in Chapter 2, information from non-IRS tax returns would be reported on the FAFSA, with
the value of the foreign income and taxes reported in U.S. dollars, using the exchange rate at the time of application.
For verification these returns are considered equivalent to IRS Form 1040. If the student (or his parents)
earned foreign income but did not pay any taxes on it, it should be reported as untaxed income.

What this means is … if Dad has to file a tax return in his own country, he says he files a 1040. He reports his income and taxes in U.S. equivalent currency. If he does not pay taxes in his country, he reports it as untaxed income.

If he does file taxes, the income/tax info will probably be different than might be expected (FAFSA uses U.S. for the standard) - so you might be flagged for verification. If so, you would just submit all Dad’s tax info (translated, if necessary!).

“Parents’ Other Untaxed Income or Benefits (question 92i)”
Is that where I would put his income then?
Does this mean I have to resubmit the whole thing?

You just make an update to your FAFSA. Put the correct amount in the correct place - sign it with your PIN AND have your parent sign it with his/her PIN - and submit.
