This happens at all schools and it’s lousy that it does. Alot of times kids are forced to get tutors to pass the class/AP exam and when they do pass it looks like the teacher is a good teacher (like in your case with a 5 on the AP exam). So, teachers end up using tutors as a crutch. That’s why (and it’s too late now for this class but this is not uncommon so it’ll probably happen again) I think you need to get not just your parent but a group of parents to go in and protest to the principal. If you do it early enough it’ll put the teacher on notice that the parents are going to be a noisy bunch and the teacher might be inclined to go easier on you just to shut the parents up. That’s what happened in APWH at our school a few years back- one nice, xcredit teacher who wrote the tests vs. one stupid teacher, no xcredit, who didn’t even read the tests he was administering so didn’t teach to the tests. The parents complained and the next year he was moved to a lower history class. His pass rate was the highest ever in the history of the department but it was because everyone hired tutors to get them through the class. You need to find people like you in the class and make noise (next time- too late this year grades are done )
