What do I have to do to be accepted to BC?

What can I do to gain admission to BC?
I’m a junior at a private boarding school & recently spoke with a college advisor and BC was on a list of schools he gave me. It’s one of my top choices and was wondering my chances of getting in/what I’d need to do to get in.
The only concern is that I do not have close to straight A’s and if I receive high SAT/ACT scores would this be less of a problem? I got 191 on my PSAT
My GPA’s currently at a 3.7

What do I need to do? Is BC simply beyond my reach?

youve pretty much done all you can to make yourself a strong applicant, but i wouldnt say that your a shoe-in. i think your admission, rejection, deferral, or wait listing would depend on the strength of the applicant pool next year. i wouldnt count on rejection, but i could see a deferral in your future if you applied EA, and about a 50-50 chance of acceptance or being wait listed. but definitely apply, cause you have a great chance of gaining some type of acceptance, hopefully the good kind

Dear worthanotherlook : With a PSAT at 191, we would recommend an SAT review course to work on your SAT total score reaching at least 2000 with hopefully a score of 2050 or more on the three-way exam. You will also want to arrange an ACT testing session as some students do better on that edition of the standardized tests.

On the advanced placement front, AP Government is fine, but a course in one of the AP history selections will afford better credit if needed coming into Boston College. Also noted is a lack of AP Calculus which will be a major competition point for you when comparing curriculum rigor.

Each year, you mention that you have As and Bs with some Cs mixed in - it is unclear how that meshes into a 3.7 GPA, particularly if unweighted. You might want to check those calculations. There is nothing that can be done about past grades, but you will want to be aware of where this places you as an overall class rank.

You will want to expand on your leadership training as this might be a potential differentiator for you, but this is referenced very briefly at the end of your profile.

Boston College based on the limited data does feel like a slight stretch for you, so your selection of slightly more sure offerings (Lehigh, Holy Cross or others) might be worthwhile depending on your major. Good luck.

Hi! i got into BC with stuff very similar to you! i wasn’t a great test taker but ended up with a 2000, a 4.0 and 8th in my class. and about 8 APs. So go for your dream, you never know ;]

I was 19 out of 350 in my class, SATs of 2050, and got into Notre Dame, BC, and Holy Cross and went to HC.
