What do I major in to become a sports medicine physical therapist?

I know I will have to get my Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy and specialize in Sports Medicine but what would i major in undergraduate if the school does not have a pre-professional degree in physical therapy (like OSU)? Are there any other colleges like OSU that have this pre-professional program and is Howard University one of them because that is my dream school? What would i major in if not? Also if i get a DPTSM can i work in a high school or college as the trainer or sports medicine person?

Howard has an undergraduate program in Health Science with emphasis in Health Management and PrePhysical Therapy. You can major in any field, however, as long as you complete the pre-PT requirements. You can view to admissions requirements for Howard’s DPT program here: [Admissions: Physical Therapy](http://www.cpnahs.howard.edu/AHS/Pt/admission.html)

Since admission to DPT programs is quite competitive, make sure you meet the admission requirements for several programs that interest you. Many pre-PT students major in kinesiology, but other bioscience majors (e.g., physiology, general biology, neuroscience) would be appropriate as long as you meet the pre-PT requirements. Other possible majors could include human development, psychology, or physical/biological anthropology. You can find out about the education and admission requirements at the APTA website: [Physical Therapist (PT) Education](http://www.apta.org/PTEducation/)
