What do I need to do to get into OSU?

Well I’m finishing my sophomore year of high school and I’m finishing this year with a 3.1 GPA. My freshman year I had a 3.1 as well. Both unweighted. Even if I got a perfect 4.0 for all quarters my junior year I would only get a 3.4. I am going to apply early action for OSU. This is my number one school. I am getting 30-31 on my ACTs. I’m so involved in community and school. What if I rank 20%? What can I do to feel solid about getting admitted into OSU?

Are you in state or out of state? In state, you would seem to have a good shot but cannot consider yourself a shoo in with that GPA. Based on my kid’s experience and the many others posted here from this year’s applicant pool, I would say you chances out of state look pretty modest. In either case, you should certainly still apply to OSU but you need to very actively consider other universities in the highly possible event you are not admitted.

I am in state

I take AP an honors classes, so Will my weighted GPA help? And will my weighted GPA determine my class rank?

the 3.1 will hurt you a little applying early action. But if you get deferred, bumping it to a 3.4 helps a lot. ACT scores are a little above average so that’s good. Make sure you’re extremely involved and stuff and that you write a good essay and even meet or e-mail your admissions rep to show that you’re really interested. Top 20% is a very good thing, AP/Honors is also good. Ya they rank by weighted gpa i believe. good luck dawg!

@kdiddy34 when I apply I will have a 3.4 GPA not a 3.1 cumulative from my 3 years

How do you know you’ll have a 3.4?

You may get deferred or admitted to a branch campus. But it’s very easy to transfer over from a branch campus.
