What do I need to do to transfer to Columbia University?

How hard would it be to transfer from Penn State? What do I need to do? Columbia has always been my dream school but there was no way I could go there straight from high school. I want to transfer after my freshman year of college so how much emphasize do they put on high school transcripts, I had a 3.3 GPA. Do I need to retake the ACT I got a 27, should I take the SAT because I never did in high school. I'm going to try as hard as I can to get a 4.0 or as closes as I can to it and pour my heart into my essays but what else do I need to do to raise my chances? Does URM status help? Extracurricular activities, volunteer work? Any advice would be helpful. Also does the whole Ivy League if your family makes less than 60,000 thousand financial aid thing still apply for transfers?

Bummmmmmp!!

good writing skills. extracurriculars. Yes financial aid applies. Keep a consistent level of motivation. Get involved in your current college. Your in penn state now not high school so your penn state grades will be more important.

You need a miracle.

I applied this year. Same HS stats. Good SATs, 4.0, incredible extra curriculars/leadership and … it’s a ***ing *joke. I essentially wasted 70$ or however much it was. Clearly I felt like I had 70$ to just throw away. I don’t want to discourage you but you had better saved a few lives and became the valedictorian of… like… the world.

It’s just very very tough. Especially with your HS stats. If you want though you can take a year off and try GS. It’s much easier to get accepted but you better be loaded…

Good luck! Give it your best shot. But for god’s sake have backups.

And no way. You want to transfer after your sophomore year. You won’t stand a chance with your hs GPA.
