What do I need to get into a good engineering school?

Hi, everyone!

I'm new here, and I have been really worried about college and stuff. Currently, I am a sophmore in high school. I really don't make too good grades- A's and B's. I got a 1500 on my SAT the first time i took it. I may take 1 or 2 AP classes; my high school only offers about 3. I do marching band, and I make iPhone applications.

What else do i need to do? I really want to do something like mechanical engineering or aerospace, but I don't know if I can get into a good college.

Thanks!

You probably need to take some advanced math and science courses such as AP Physics or AP Calculus. Also, many engineering schools require SAT II Math II so you may want to take that junior year.

I will probably do AP Physics and AP Calculus. I may also do AP Chem. I do some college level physics during the weekends. Are my EC’s good? I want to go somewhere like NC state.

Yeah, your ECs are probably good enough for NC state. If your school has any sort of math/science/technology club, then it might be a good idea to join.

Is that SAT score out of 1600 or 2400? Break it up too please so we can better help you. For many engineering schools its good to take Chemistry, Biology, and high level math (Calculus). Any APs you have of them would really help. Obviously AP Physics E & M would be best but the other AP Physics is fine.

It’s out of 2400. I still have 3 more years to take it, though. My high school doesn’t offer any AP classes except two englishs and calculus.

I would like to go to ncsu, but i would rather go to somewhere like carnagie mellon. i doubt i can get in with what im currently doing.

and the iPhone apps is a company i started.

And I plan to do JETS

it was 520 math 480 writing and 500 critical reading.
