What do I need to get on the SAT II so that it is helpful to my application?

I'm taking the SAT II in Bio and US this saturday, and I was wondering what I need to get so that they help rather than hurt my app. I am already sending the ACT instead of the SAT so any SAT II's would be optional; however, I was already signed up when I found out my ACT score so I'm still taking it. What should I be above in each of them?

Well…obviously the higher the better…
I think it helps you as long as you get around 700 or 700+.

I would say 750+. Typically the SAT IIs are pretty easy and you can miss several (on some of the exams) and still get an 800.

I believe 700+ is the norm, but I was accepted with 600s. If you are lacking in one area, be sure to make up for it everywhere else.

The thing is, it’s optional for me, so I really only would send it if it’s going to help instead of hurt me. I guess it’s better to just wait and see what I get, and then maybe I’ll bump this forum for advice. Thanks for all the good advice though, now I have a goal.

I see. In that case I would definitely submit them if they are 700+. Also, the admissions officers know which tests are harder as CollegeBoard sends out percentiles annually.

Generally above 700+. I think once you’re above 700, it doesn’t make a terribly big difference what you get.
