I just needed input on my expected study plan.
I plan to study AP Biology, AP psychology, AP env. science and AP Chemistry through Barron's/PR. (Do you guys think I need textbooks)
I plan to hire a tutor for AP Calc AB and BC. I need suggestions on which textbooks to buy for them.

I took AP psych and it was fairly easy. It’s just all memorization… Buy Barron’s, it has all the information you need. PR is too brief. For calculus AB/BC I used Calculus by Larson/Hostetler/Edwards. It is a really easy to understand textbook. Only thing I had trouble with this book was the Lagrange remainder.

Don’t self-study Chemistry. It is one of the hardest AP tests, and without the knowledge that you gain from being in the lab, it will be very difficult to score high.

However, [AP Environmental Science](Emily Xie: AP Environmental Science) will be pretty easy. I didn’t think that it was terribly difficult and I studied with Princeton Review. Honestly, most of it is pretty straight forward.

I selfed AP chem; it is doable (though a lot of work).

I didn’t notice an emphasis on lab questions on the AP exam, so it’s really not necessary to gain knowledge from the labs. For AP chem, get PR and 5 steps.

@arghwhy thanks!
@Emily556 Im an international student in Pakistan so I don’t go to a school that follows the US curriculum thus, I am ‘self-studying’ the AP’s. In Pakistan, 12th grade chem is VERY hard with a LOT of lab time so its ok. Thanks for the heads up though.
As for AP Calc, I’ll need a lot of hard work and I am hiring a tutor so wish me luck guys. :)

Good luck, but you should know, you can only take Calc AB or Calc BC in one year.

^^ I never knew that! Thanks for the heads up.

AP Calc AB : Don’t waste your money on a tutor.

I self-studied all the content and more in the two weeks before the exam while I was also studying for other exams. Just do a lot of practice exams so you know what type of questions will appear and how you should answer them.

^But the OP may want to take Calc BC, thereby also getting a AB subscore as well.

Biology-cliffs, psychology -barrons. Chemistry -barrons.
