I live in Ann Arbor and go to Pioneer High School. What GPA/Test Scores (ACT/SAT) would you say I need to get in? Is it do-able? Thanks for your input. I didn't put in as much effort as I should have sophomore year, and I hope that doesn't kill me.

Edit: Also, does early admission make a difference?

OK I am starting Freshman year at Michigan in the Fall, but I'm taking Summer Term classes right now and I just went through what you are going through. Get REALLY good grades your junior year. Your grades Freshman and Sophomore years are great and you need to keep it up for Junior year and most of your senior year. (Don't worry your sophomore year grades won't hurt you that much). Michigan does take students from all over the US, but it also takes A LOT of in-state students. With your grades, pull a 28+ on the ACT and a 1900-2100+ on the SAT and your in. Also sometime at the end of your junior year, go to www.umich.edu and find the Undergraduate Admissions page. Find your particular counselor. E-mail him/her. DO IT A LOT. Ask them questions, even if you already know the answer. Make them know you really want to come to Michigan. Believe me lobbying goes a long way. Also, apply as EARLY AS POSSIBLE. I CAN'T STRESS THIS ENOUGH!!!!! APPLY the first couple of days the App is online. Get all of your sShhiiTt done FAST! I went to a high school with 1,000 seniors, I was the FIRST (i really was) one to get all my apps done and have my transcripts sent out. Get your app done as soon as possible and they'll tell you by December-February, possibly sooner. Remember UofM does Rolling Admissions, apply early in that rolling process and you'll get your answer back soon!

Good Luck, you got a shot.
I know I did and I had worse stats than you. I had 6 APs but passed no AP exams and I had a 1700 SAT with a 3.7 GPA. Think about that. Also I'm from California.

I say that you'll have a good shot as long as you get a 3.9-4.0 uw gpa junior year and get a 30+ act...hmm...early admission?...it helps to apply earlier because michigan is on a rolling admissions system...but there is no official early action/early decision system if thats what you're asking...

I'm gonna bump this...after a looong time. And I'm worried about one thing, in particular....how should I get my volunteer hours? NHS is screwed up in my school and no one has got invites....should I join key Club? Any suggestions? I really wanna get in lol
