I am curious! HELP

Calm down, you crazy boy.
You dont even have a child.

No…Really I do. She’s even a Hodson. I know grades are ‘covered’ but I still need to know if I will see her ‘report card’. She’s doing well. But for the last 12 years a report card has graced my fridge. What do I do this year???

And how is deans list announced?

No Lie. >>Real parent . Real kid.

There are worse things in life than not being able to put a piece of paper on your refrigerator. It’s going to be okay.

If your daughter is taking at least 14 credits and finishes the semester with a 3.5 or above, she is on the Dean’s List. A letter should be sent home and your hometown newspaper may be notified. However I’m not sure if that applies for the first semester of freshman year. It might start second semester.

Put a message that says “I love you no matter what.” I did that for my daughter and she thought it was cute.

ugggh…Not helpful!

Was hoping for actual answers. Kidding about the fridge.
Let me attempt it again.
“Besides posting final grades on the JHU Intraweb does the school send out via mail the final grading? Also (since JHU2013 answered above partly) does anyone know if Deans List is compiled for 1st semester freshmen?”

WoI-Great idea. I used dry erase markers and put a big circle on her bathroom mirror above the sink with arrows and the saying “My favorite person in the world” when she came home thanksgiving. She liked that.

Deans List is compiled for 1st semester freshman year (or at least it used to be when I was a freshman 5 years ago…). As for a “report card”, if your daughter is 18 or older, legally, the school can’t release her grades to you without her consent, which I believe you’ll have to send in writing to the Registrar’s office.

Ahhh Tanman! Thank you. Not stressed about my daughter showing me the grades. But how does she get them? Is it online only or do they mail something…?

Thanks.

She won’t know her grades unless she asks her advisor to “uncover” them for her.

In the future, when grades are no longer covered they will show up on ISIS. Some parents have access to their kids’ grades on ISIS depending on what access the students gives to them. I’ve given my parents full access (mainly to deal with the financial stuff on ISIS) but they can also see my grades if they want.

Your daughter can log onto isis.jhu.edu and then go to Personal Info > Authorized Users to change the settings if necessary.

Actually, I can see my first semester grades on ISIS now. I’m not sure if that’s only because I’ve graduated or something, since I don’t remember it being there before. They’re still S’s on the main grade summary page and on the transcript, but when I go to the My Grades page, there’s a link to view an unofficial first semester covered grade report that has the actual letter grades.

Yes, it seems like they’re doing that for everyone now. I don’t know when I first noticed it, though.

Thanks all…

Appreciate the feedback/information. Final Q:
If Finals are over @ the 15th when are final grades posted?

I know I sound like grades are important to me but in truth I am not. My kid will be wondering all christmas how she did in her finals.

It completely depends on the professor. Sometimes they are up in a week or two, other times it can take a few months. One of my professors last semester didn’t post spring grades until late July.

In many departments, policy is to grade final exams the day they’re taken. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean grades will be posted that day. The latest I’ve ever had grades posted were maybe 1.5 weeks after the exam; the earliest were the next morning and the same day.
