Ok, I am pretty much screwed. I have to take subject tests this saturday, and have no idea what to take. I missed the registration date, so I have to do standyby testing but I called a test center and they said i can take whatever test I want anbd it should not be a problem. So this is my dilemma, i am definitley taking math II, considering i got a 780 on my sat for math. I am also going to take US History cause I took the AP class. Now, i dont know if i need to take a third. I already have a good act score, and many colleges sub Act for sat. Now, I dont know if i should take a third, or which one to take.

My options are

Math I- Even though I am taking math ii, i KNOW this will be my highest score other than math II

Chem- I take chem this year, but science is not my forte and am in an average class. I have a 99 in that class, but dont feel like i learned a thing this year.

Literature- I am in AP english and took the exam. I felt pretty comfortabl about the exam, and I am expecting about a 4. I am really good with that rhetorical stuff. However, i only got a 620 on my sat readnig, but a 720 on sat writing.

Suggestions would be very helpful. Thank You!

Let's see.....first:

How many more chances do you have to take your SAT tests before applying to college? If you're applying Early Action to some that require SAT IIs (like I am), then you only have June & Oct. Are you retaking your SAT I in October, and therefore have to take all your subject tests this Saturday?

IF either you're not applying Early Action, or you don't need to retake the SAT I, then I would space out your subject tests so that you're taking as few as possible on each day (ideally 1 each time), and so that you have at least a week or so to take a practice test for each subject (from a prep book from the library) - just so you have an idea of what the questions look like.

How many subject tests do your colleges require you to take? Your particular colleges' websites should say how many they require/recommend.

Oh, wow, I didn't realize that you were considering taking Math I in addition to Math II.....in which case......DON'T!!! Do NOT take Math I & Math II. It's just pointless; I'm pretty sure that most (if not all) colleges don't count them as separate tests anyway. Plus, because of the curve, if you're good at math, you'll most likely do BETTER on Math II than Math I anyway!!

So, if your colleges only require two, then it sounds like you're good to go with Math II and US History. If they do require 3......well, are you sure that Chem & Lit are your only options? If so....I suppose I'm not sure what to recommend.

Literature is a LOT more like the SAT Reading than SAT Writing, and while AP depends a lot upon your essays rather than your Mult-Choice......I don't think you can do incredibly well on the SAT II Lit unless you're expecting a 5 on AP.

Meanwhile, AP Chem prepares you very well for the SAT II Chem...but if you don't feel that you have a very good understanding of the concepts....then that's not very promising. You really do need one.

I guess then, to decide on your (if necessary) third: check out some books w/practice tests for each subject you're considering, try one test, and see which you do better on! :-/
