Hey guys,

I'm again phased with the question, what do I want to major in? I positive absolutely know that I will go to med school after(hopefully Harvard's!);I believe its my calling. I love helping people and volunteering. I personally think its my strongest strength because I love to do it so much.
Majors I have considered:
Social Sciences
Biology

Minors or maybe even double major:
Art
Archeology

I love knowing new and interesting things. I'm just really not sure what I want to major in. I know people say you can put undecided and that you don't have to know quite yet what your major is but it is important to me. What are the pluses and minuses of these programs at Harvard?

Thanks!

does Harvard have a double major ?

Harvard doesn’t have double majors but it has “joint concentrations,” which I guess are similar but they require you to write a senior thesis that combines both fields. I suppose you could joint concentrate in one of the bio fields and history of art & architecture or something, but it might be a challenge to work them both together. In addition, some concentrations don’t allow you to joint major, like history (apart from their pre-set History & East Asian Studies track.)

I was pretty undecided about concentration in your shoes last year, though I’m not pre-med. My advice is to sample a bunch of classes that look interesting to you during your freshmen year and see which one you could see yourself doing throughout your 4 years. I’m sure you can knock off a gen ed requirement or two in the process.

Keep in mind that being pre-med and concentrating in something that isn’t bio or chem is definitely possible, yet it will compromise a lot of your flexibility in picking classes. You probably won’t have much elective room and studying abroad during a semester may be difficult, though not impossible.
