an art class and 3 other classes

my school works on an A-day/B-day block schedule so we take all eight classes all year long - finals usually hurt my year grade

ECs- Varsity Tennis, Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honor Society), Junior Class Council, National Society of Black Engineers, HOSA(won 1st place in sports medicine regional competition, 3rd place in state competition), Unity Club, Outward Bound alum, athletic trainer, Junior Marshal (reserved for top 5% of class), National Honor Society, founder of Campus Greens chapter at my school (organization associated with the Green Political Party), Spanish Honor Society, Muslim Student Association (I am not a Muslim but I like helping the Muslim members of my community, especially here in the south) I am obviously not active in all of these right now - this is a list of the clubs that I have joined and been active in over the past 3 years

hoping to go into urban planning/revitalization

My stats were MUCH lower than yours, and I was accepted to the College of Engineering with an $11000/year scholarship. Not only will you almost definitely get in, you should recieve a nice scholarship. I noticed a lot of well qualified applicants who applied at the last possible minute were rejected, so apply early. Good luck!

Yeah definitely send in your app. early. However, as I had failed to mention in previous "northeastern chances" posts, NEU's admissions decisions seemed to have been very awkward. Since admissions is getting extremely competitve, they really look at the people who would want to attend and they reject those who probably aren't interested. I have seen people with 4.0 gpa's and 1460 sat's get waitlisted and then rejected(and they sent in their app on time). So, if you send in your app. early and show interest you will get in.
I got in with stats much lower than yours and I did receive a scholarship-- your gpa and sats are excellent so I wouldn't worry that much, if alot of time and thought is put into your app.

If you apply early and make it clear that NEU is your #1 choice, you should have no problem. But as others have suggested, if it appears that you're using NEU as a safety, you might be bypassed.

Standards are rising quickly there, but you should still be a solid contender for grants and admittance to the Honors Program. Good luck.

Wow, this is all news to me. My guidance counselor told me that I have a very high chance of getting in. Can you guys help me...

EXCELLENT RECS.. (Guidance Counselor loves me, so does my 11th grade math teacher, and my boss from my internship this summer at Citigroup who I've known for years)

COMMUNITY SERVICE: Island Harvest wrote a letter about my community service about my food drives/hard work ethic/etc. for a community award of some sort, an excellent letter.

AWARDS: I write poetry haha. I have 9 awards where I have been published nationally in books that consist of adults and another one of my poems won internationally and is published in a book around the world as well as a compact disc containing the 13 best poets sold globally as well.

CLUBS: yearbook 9-12.. JR editor 11th, Editor 12 (leadership)
Varsity Club 9-10
Active Member of Student council 9-12
Secretary- 12 (leadership)

My essay I expect to be very good because writing is my passion and I already spent a lot of my time fixing it up, original idea as well.

I would agree with your guidance counselor. My gpa was around a 3.2, and my SAT scores were 650M 670V. Our course selection is similar, and your ECs are much better than mine. I was accepted with a nice scholarship, and most likely the same will happen to you. Yes, Northeastern is getting more competive every year, but it is not extremely difficult to gain admission.
