my school works on an A-day/B-day block schedule so we take all eight classes all year long - finals usually hurt my year grade

ECs- Varsity Tennis, Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honor Society), Junior Class Council, National Society of Black Engineers, HOSA(won 1st place in sports medicine regional competition, 3rd place in state competition), Unity Club, Outward Bound alum, athletic trainer, Junior Marshal (reserved for top 5% of class), National Honor Society, founder of Campus Greens chapter at my school (organization associated with the Green Political Party), Spanish Honor Society, Muslim Student Association (I am not a Muslim but I like helping the Muslim members of my community, especially here in the south) – I am obviously not active in all of these right now - this is a list of the clubs that I have joined and been active in over the past 3 years

hoping to go into urban planning/revitalization and so i’d be applying to Upenn’s urban studies program

are you applying ED or regular?

i think u have a pretty good chance, either way

thanks afaforce...i guess we'll see

probably regular...i really love upenn and their urban studies program is extremely extensive and its probably one of the best i've seen--but if i don't get the financial aid that i need i would hate to be obligated to go their and still end up with a crap load of debt

bumpety bump

bumpety bump

the fact is that Penn is one of those "need-blind" based universities... therefore... they will not be that cruel in financial matters... they will be pretty liberal and the will help you out

so cornell, do u think i have a shot

first of all... you should make sure that your GPA is atleast 3.5 or above.. since that is a very important thing... next.. make sure when you do your applications... u write down all activities in conjunction with the ones that you have more focused on...

SAT is good.... could improve by 20-30 pts and GPA MUST GO UP

GPA is a very big factor in this process..

GOOD LUCK

SpinDoctor, is your sn in reference to the famous vintage mac game- the one with the spinning wand? ....that was an awesome game.

Anyway, probably shouldn't hijack. there's a new thread button on the upenn page (top & bottom)

Spin doctor, are you planning on applying ED or RD?! Which school are you planning on applying too? Wharton?College? I think you're stats look great, the two B's wont hurt you, well I shoudlnt think they would.
Work hard on your essays and I think you may be good to go!

Shinobi: Your stats look great, SAT, EC's and everything else. But the thing that may hurt you most is your GPA! You really need to pull it up your senior year. Also work hard on your essays and try to show up those things that arent evident in your app on your essay. Try to be creative etc. Good luck with ur apps..where else you thinking about applying too? Btw, in terms of financial aid, from experience I think Penn is generally very generous with how much you get, so if thats whats hindering you from applying ED, i dont think it should. Speak to a representative if you can.

You guys seem to have received your AP scores. Do all scores come out at the same time?

Well you can call to find out your scores. Theres an $8 charge. Or you can just wait till its mailed out which should be in the middle of this month!

bumpbumpety bumpster

What those Ed stand for?

EARLY DECISION

thats when you pick a school that you definitely want to go to and apply there, usually before Nov. 1 or 15.

with early decision its binding...that means if you get in, you HAVE to go!
