So obviously people party, join clubs, sororities, and all that but what specific places do they go to and how do they get there? does at least one person bring a car or do they just go in BART or walk?

are the clubs or parties in SF? or do they stick to berkeley? how far is sf from berk anyways?

SF is one 30-minute ride on the F bus from Berkeley. I didn’t really have a reason to go til I was 21, going on a date, or sightseeing, though. There is plenty to do in the East Bay.

I had a car junior year while I was living off-campus in Emeryville. It wasn’t really worth it.

Go to parties in Berkeley every weekend, take bart to SF every month at least to go shopping in Union Square or to some event going on there, take a 20 minute bus to emeryville to shop some more, watch movies on Shattuck…

You can’t party in SF if you’re under 21 or you don’t have a car. All you can really do is go to frat parties or get drunk in your dorm room. And then get an apartment and throw parties there :D.

as in know your cover story and know what the hell is on your id card. some kids try to flash their id at safeway and i saw them just get grilled by the person (address, etc etc)

man. i always imagined that u could go to kool night clubs and all that in college. but then again, i’ve never partied so there might be a buncha creeps. unless i guess if u go with a guy friend and several others and stick with them.

Frat parties aren’t that bad haha. At least in the beginning of the year there’s a lot of theme/blacklight parties that are fun. And no fake ID necessary. Go with a group of friends and it’s safe. No driving, only a 5-10 minute stumble back to your dorm :).

well that’s pretty much the problem the “fun” part of berkeley. sf isn’t as close as people always make it out to be. although i remember the summer before i came here, some person on this board kept saying if you came here just for fun, then maybe you should consider some place else and i kept thinking w t f. and so you’re pretty much limited to either house or frat parties around berkeley. (or dorms i guess if you’re frosh/soph)

on Wednesdays we have a gathering near the free clinic on Durant and we kind of do a tribal dance with the homeless around an idol made out of junk. You don’t have to dress up usually unless the Wednesday falls on a holiday, which makes it all the more fun. It’s open to anyone so you can just walk up and no one will care. I think it’s a pretty good way to meet people in other majors, but you won’t see any engineering folk. Most people go a few times during their freshman year but I’ve been too lazy to walk down or catch the bus, it’s like a fun tradition thing from the 60’s.
